Lava has launched a new mid-range Android smartphone Iris 550Q in India for Rs 13,000. Iris 550Q comes with 5.5" display and quad-core processor. The Iris 550Q comes with 5.5" HD (1280×720 pixels) display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It also offers 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
Also included is an 8MP rear camera with BSI sensor and LED flash, 2MP front camera and a 2,600mAh battery that the company claims can survive up to 10 hours of talktime on 2G. On the software front it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The Iris 550Q will be up against the likes of Xolo Q2000 and the iBall Andi 5.5N2 Quadro. The Q2000 is slightly more expensive (Rs 14,999) and for the extra buck you get a better rear camera (13MP) and more internal storage (8GB). The Andi 5.5N2 Quadro too is near identical to the Iris 550Q, albeit with a better rear camera (12MP) and a slightly smaller battery (2,500mAh).
