Asus has launched the Transformer Book Trio in India a unique 11.6-inch 'three-in-one' ultraportable device. The Asus Transformer Book Trio has been launched at Rs. 98,099. The device will be available across select Asus authorised retail outlets later in December 2013.
The Transformer Book Trio is a two-part device, offering three use scenarios. It can be used as an Android laptop-tablet hybrid device or simple Android tablet, with its detachable tablet and keyboard dock. It can also be used as a Windows 8 Pro laptop, either on the tablet display with the keyboard dock, or by connecting the keyboard dock to an external display via Mini DisplayPort or Micro-HDMI. Users can switch between Windows 8 and Android at the press of a button.
The keyboard dock of the Transformer Book Trio runs Windows 8 Pro, and is powered by a fourth generation 1.8GHz Intel Core i7-4500U CPU (up to 3GHz with Turbo), coupled with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 500GB hard disk drive. The keyboard dock has a multi-touch touchpad and a backlit keyboard.
The detachable 11.6-inch display works as a 10-point multi-touch Android tablet and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Transformer Book Trio is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB flash inbuilt storage. It also features a 720p HD front camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
Transformer Book Trio has two separate batteries, the tablet has a 19Wh battery, and the keyboard dock a 33Wh battery. Also Asus claims that the device gives you up to 13 hours of battery life in Android mode, and five hours in Windows 8 mode - combined figures are not known yet.
The connectivity options on the keyboard dock include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, whereas you will get Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 on the tablet separately.
