Sony has announced a new member in its SLT range of cameras, i.e. cameras that sit between DSLRs and mirrorless cameras with a fixed translucent mirror that allows the AF to continue working even while shooting.
The a68 has a 79 point autofocus system with translucent mirror technology. The translucent mirror technology allows the camera to have continuous tracking and 8fps burst mode with continuous autofocus. Behind the mirror is a 24 megapixel APS-C EXMOR CMOS sensor with an ISO range of 100-25600 with a new BIONZ X image processor.
The OLED viewfinder has a resolution of 1.4 million dots, and the tilting 2.7-inch LCD has 460k dot resolution. The camera also features built-in image stabilization that works with all 34 A-mount lenses. It can also record videos in up to 1080p with 50Mbps XAVC S codec.
The a68 will be available starting March 2016 for €600 body only or €700 with DT18-55mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II lens.
