Nextbit Robin ‘Cloud-First’ Smartphone Pre-Orders Open In Several Countries Including India, Priced At Rs 30,554

Two former Google employees raised $18 million from Accel and Google Ventures for their startup called Nextbit in 2014. Their unique ‘cloud-first’ Robin smartphone was put up on Kickstarter where it managed to garner more than a million in funding. Now the smartphone is up for pre-orders in a few countries, including India.

Nextbit Robin is the first cloud-first smartphone in the crowded smartphone market. It comes with 100GB cloud storage, and automatically shifts apps that haven’t been used for a long time to the cloud. It also backups up photos and videos on the cloud.

Nextbit Robin is priced at $399 (Rs 26,000 approximately), and for shipping the handset to India, you will need to fork out another $70 (Rs 4,560 approximately).

Nextbit Robin flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) LCD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. Also on offer is 32GB internal storage, plus 100GB cloud storage.

On the photography front, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera phase detection autofocus and dual-tone flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also features a 2,680mAh battery with quick charging support, dual front-facing speakers and fingerprint sensor.

Connectivity options include single-SIM card slot, LTE support, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and a USB Type-C port. On the software front, the smartphone will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. It will also be available in two color variants – Mint and Midnight.
