LG Announced V10 Smartphone With Secondary Display And Dual Front Camera, Also Teases Watch Urbane

LG has taken the wraps off of its latest smartphone, the oft-rumored V10. The device will be shown off at the company’s press event in New York City, but meanwhile, all of the details have been shared via a press release. The company this evening has also teased the second edition of its Watch Urbane smartwatch.

The LG V10 features a secondary display on the front of the device, which LG says can either be used in “always on mode” while the display is powered off or can eb dedicated to launching certain apps while the main display is powered on. The secondary display’s purpose also varies between apps, with specific apps carrying different capabilities. Also, while using fullscreen apps, the secondary display can be used to show notifications as to not interrupt the main display’s fullscreen mode.

The V10 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The main display comes in at 5.7-inches with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. The secondary display is 2.1-inches and features a 160 x 1040 resolution. As for camera tech, the rear shooter is a 16MP sensor with optical image stabilization. LG touts that the front camera is a 5MP dual lens set up, providing for up to 120 degree wide angle shots. The device is powered by Android 5.1.1 and features a 3000mAh battery that is removable.

One neat camera feature that the V10 carries is multi-view recording. This capability records video all at once from the three cameras on the device, allowing for videos with several different angles and points of view.

The LG V10 will be available in Korea starting this month, with the device expanding to other markets, including the United States in the near future.

Also today LG has offered the first look at the 2nd edition of its Watch Urbane smartwatch. The 2nd generation features cellular connectivity, meaning that it does not require a constant connection to an Android device to function. The 2nd edition Watch Urbane can connect via 4G, 3G, WiFi, or Bluetooth.

The 2nd edition Urbane is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with a 1.38-inch display at 480 x 480 pixels. The device is slated to be available first in the United States and Korea, although specific details regarding pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
