A lot of rumors are already out about Microsoft’s Surface Phone and the recent report sheds some light on its specifications. As reported by WMPU via unnamed sources, the smartphone carries codename “Project Juggernaut Alpha”, and is expected to release sometime in late 2015 or early 2016.
After acquiring Nokia’s handset business, Microsoft has started selling its own smartphones. They don’t carry the Nokia name anymore, but Microsoft is still using the Lumia branding. So how different would the Surface Phone be from Microsoft Lumia smartphones?
With the launch of Windows 10 for phones around the corner, it might be the right time for Microsoft to debut its much-awaited Surface Phone. It could launch with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display running at a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
The Surface Phone could be powered by Intel’s Atom X3 64-bit processor paired with 4GB of RAM. So far Windows Phone devices have exclusively worked on Snapdragon chips.
The Surface Phone is expected to come in 64GB and 128GB options along with microSD card support to further expand the storage up to 256GB. The Surface Phone may also sport a 21-megapixel camera with PureView lens and an 8-megapixel front facing camera for video calling and selfies. Some reports also point other high-end features such as, wireless charging, USB Type-C connectivity, Wi-Fi ac and a Surface Pen with pressure-sensitive input support for doodling.
Looking at the specifications, the Surface Phone has everything that one would expect in a dream smartphone. As these are just rumored specs, take them with the a pinch of salt until the actual handset sees light of the day.
