First Ubuntu Phones Aquaris E4.5, Aquaris E5 Launched In India, Prices Start From Rs 11,999

Canonical has launched first Ubuntu-powered smartphones in India. The Aquaris E4.5, and the Aquaris E5 will go on sale towards the end of this month exclusively via Snapdeal. The smartphones are priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 13,499 respectively.

The USP of both the smartphone is undoubtedly the Ubuntu operating system. The OS is big on gestures, and features a concept called Scopes. This includes visually-rich panels that aggregate and display content like Weather, Music or News. The company has also made these panels customizable for handset makers and operators.

Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition specifications

The Aquaris E4.5 was the first ever Ubuntu-powered smartphone launched earlier this year. It sports a 4.5-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek Cortex-A7 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM.

Also on offer is 8GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. It also features 8-megapixel f/2.4 rear camera with dual-flash, 5-megapixel front camera, and a 2,150mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.

Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition specifications

This was the second Ubuntu smartphone launched back in June this year. It flaunts 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display with Dragontrail glass, and it is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek Cortex-A7 quad-core processor paired with Mali 400-MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Also on offer is 16GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. It also features a 13-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera with dual flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,500mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
