Xiaomi today took the wraps off the Mi 4c at an event in China. The smartphone is an upgraded version of the Mi 4i, and comes with a bump in hardware specifications and some nifty features as well.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c has been launched in China in two storage variants. The 16GB variant with 2GB of RAM is priced at priced at $204 (approximately Rs 13,500), while the 32GB storage variant with 3GB of RAM is priced at $235 (approximately Rs 15,300).
Xiaomi Mi 4c flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 808 hexa-core SoC paired with Adreno 418 GPU.
On the photography front, the Mi 4c is equipped with 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, and a front facing 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera. The smartphone is equipped with a 3,080mAh battery with a USB Type-C port and Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging support. To help with the transition to the new port, Xiaomi is also offering a microUSB to USB Type-C adapter, which can be bought for 5 Yuan (Rs 51 approximately).
Connectivity features include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 8202.11n, and GPS. There is also a built-in IR blaster that allows users to use the smartphone as a remote control for over 2,000 products.
On the software front, the smartphone surprisingly runs on MIUI 6. The company has however promised that the smartphone will soon be updated to MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop.
Xiaomi has added some nifty features including Edge Tap. As the name suggests, taps on the side of the smartphone can be used as shortcuts. For instance, users can double tap on the side to go back and single tap to capture a photo in Camera, among others. Double tap to wake feature is also present.
The Xiaomi Mi 4c will be available in five different color options – cool white, pink, blue, yellow and grey. There is however no word on if Xiaomi plans on launching the smartphone in other markets.
