Samsung has unveiled a range of IoT devices, including SleepSense at its IFA 2015 event in Berlin. As the name probably suggests, this gadget can remotely track your sleep pattern.

This circular gadget is supposed to be placed under the mattress, and it will track your sleep. It calculates seven elements — total sleep time, sleep efficiency, time it took to fall asleep, number of times you woke up, number of times you got out of bed, percentage of time in deep sleep. While sleep trackers aren’t exactly new, Samsung’s SleepSense does more than just collect data and help you sleep better.
SleepSense can communicate with other IoT devices in the room as well. So for example, if you doze off while watching TV, it will automatically turn it off. Similarly if you toss and turn because the room has gotten a bit warm, SleepSense will automatically switch on the air conditioner.
Furthermore, SleepSense also features heart rate and breathing rate monitor, approved by the US FDA. It is a feature that can come in handy if you have an elderly person at home. SleepSense will automatically detect and alert you in case there is any drop in their vitals. Under the ‘family care’ option, the gadget will periodically send sleep analysis to you via email.
Samsung will launch SleepSense in South Korea later this year. There is however no word on when Samsung plans to launch it globally.
