Samsung today launched its recently unveiled Galaxy S6 Edge+ in India today. The smartphone is priced at Rs 57,900, and will go on sale from August 28 onwards.
In terms of an upgrade, it is merely a bigger variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge launched earlier this year. It features the same dual-edged display (albeit bigger), with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on the front as well as the back. The curved portion acts as a secondary display where you can view notifications and launch applications with one hand.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ specifications
The smartphone flaunts a 5.7-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display, and is powered by an Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core (2.1GHz Cortex-A57 quad-core + 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core) processor paired with Mali T760 GPU and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM.
Also on offer is 32GB internal storage, but just like its predecessor, there is no microSD card. Samsung has said that it will also be launching the 64GB variant in India, but there is no timeline mentioned yet. In the photography department, the smartphone offers a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), supplemented with a 5-megapixel f/1.9 selfie camera up front.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ features
There is a 3,000mAh battery with fast wireless charging support, and connectivity options include single-SIM support, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB 2.0. Also integrated into the front home button is a fingerprint sensor with support for Samsung Pay (not in India). On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the box, wrapped under a refreshed TouchWiz UI. The new UI brings with it features like live YouTube broadcasting, and quick camera launch to name a few.
