“Hey Cortana” Might Become Next Windows 10 Power Button In Intel Powered PC/Laptops

Microsoft’s inclusion of Cortana on Windows 10 marks a very smart move that other manufacturers like Apple and Google haven’t followed with their current PC offerings. The inclusion of a smart digital assistant makes far more sense when using a powerful computer, than when using a phone on the go in most cases. Today we learn that this was just the tip of the iceberg.

Intel has just announced a new “Wake-on-voice” feature that will be included on Windows 10 computers running on Intel processors. The idea is that you can wake up your computer from a low power state by simply saying “Hey Cortana.” Intel’s CEO was recently on stage at the Intel Developer Forum and spent a good deal of time explaining this service, and also claimed that the recent breakthroughs in digital audio allow for this to be possible.

Unfortunately there’s no word on how early this feature will reach Windows 10 computers powered by an Intel Chip. Hopefully we get to see mor in the next few weeks at IFA.
