Google's Project Era Is Delayed, Delay Caused By 'electropermanetly' Attached Components

At this year’s Google I/O, the Project Ara team had announced that it will be testing the modular phone in Puerto Rico sometime in this year. The team then announced that it is “looking at a few locations in the US” to launch the phone.

Google’s Project Ara has been delayed until next year. The team behind the project has taken it to Twitter to put some light on the reason for this delay.

As the latest details emerge, the “electropermanent” magnet that holds the different Ara modules together isn’t strong enough to keep them from falling apart.

In other words, the phone failed the drop tests. The team is now looking at other ways to keep the modules together.

As of now there isn’t any word on these magnetic modules will be replaced. May be its time for the team to go back to the drawing board and look for a better alternative.
