HTC launched its first Octacore smartphone, the Desire 616 at an event in New Delhi. The mid-range smartphone is priced at Rs 16,900 and will be available next week.
The Desire 616 comes with 5" 720p display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek’s “true” MT6592 octa-core chipset, paired with Mali-450MP4 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Also included is 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Powered by an octa-core processor, the Desire 616 will be up against smartphones like the Micromax Canvas Knight A350, Karbonn Titanium Octane and the Gionee Elife E7 mini among others.
