Facebook Redesigns Its News Feed Yet Again, Brings More Simplicity

Facebook is set to roll out yet another redesigned News Feed in the coming weeks, but instead of a revolutionary new design, the social network has decided to take a step back. This News Feed is reminiscent of the older design, which if you remember actually looks quite similar to the mobile News Feed.

According to Re/code, the News Feed many of us have been used to for the past year wasn’t released to all of the 1.2 billion userbase. Instead, the roll out was stopped after Facebook received quite a lot of negative feedback, especially aimed at the left-hand column.

“Over the last year, we’ve spent a lot of time seeing what people were saying, what was working, what wasn’t working, and we’re rolling out the version that takes all of that feedback into account,” Facebook’s Greg Marra said in an interview. “Some parts weren’t working and were just getting in the way for people.”

With the latest redesign, Facebook is going back to the old design. One of the first things you will notice is the bigger and more prominent photos on the News Feed, which according to the social network is where most of the interactions happen. The left-hand column, previously cluttered with icons, is now much lighter and cleaner. Similarly fonts, icons and story cards too have been given a tweak.

As mentioned above, Facebook will slowly start rolling out the redesigned News Feed globally in the coming weeks.
