Indian smartphone vendor WickedLeak has announced that all the new units of the Wammy Passion Z+ smartphone shipped, will run on Android 4.4 Kitkat out-of-the-box. Existing owners of the smartphone will get the update from January 14 though it isn’t clear at the moment whether it would be an OTA update or will users have to visit a service center to get the update.
With the announcement, the Wickedleak has become the first Indian mobile brand to sell a smartphone running on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Wammy Passion Z+ has a 5-inch full HD IPS (1920×1080 pixels) display. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6589 Turbo processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and coupled with PowerVR SGX544MP GPU and 1GB of RAM. Also, it has a 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded to up to 64GB using a microSD card.
It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor and support for 1080p video recording, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity-wise it features dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB. The phone was launched in July this year for Rs 15,990.
