Microsoft launched Guardian on Windows Phone - A safety app for women

Microsoft India has developed a new app called Guardian, which is aimed at helping one in the moment of distress. This app is exclusive to the Windows Phone 8 platform and can be downloaded for free from the Windows Phone Store.

Guardian is similar to other such SOS apps. The app lets users switch on a ‘track me’ option, which allows friends or family track the app user in real time via Bing Maps or Microsoft’s Azure cloud services. The app also lets one contact the police or hospital easily.

Users will have to register the names of people who the app will contact when the SOS button on the app is pressed. The app goes a step further and lets one sync one’s email, and Facebook account too. This will ensure that when the SOS button is tapped all the contacts on the email list will be sent a distress email and there will also be a FB status update asking for help. Other features included are mobile tracking even if the device is broken and one touch video recording.
Ever since the number of horrific events shook the India, companies have come up with apps to help a person during the moment of distress. Earlier this year, Notion Ink launched an app called imShakti for Android devices. Other similar apps include Fightback, Circle of 6, bSafe, Scream Alarm!, VwithU and Sentinel among others.

Download for free from Windows Phone Store.
