In the past year, Facebook has picked up many features (hashtags, verified pages, embed posts, trending topics) from Twitter and introduced them on its social network. It is only fair then that Twitter should take something back and seems like the wheel is already in motion. Twitter has started testing a completely overhauled design, which looks very similar to Facebook, Google+ according to Mashable reports.
Mashable’s Matt Petronzio got the updated profile and promptly reported about it. An individual’s profile page will now look like the above photo. The background image you used for your profile will now become somewhat of a cover photo ala Facebook and will only show up on the top. The required photo’s size too has increased from 1252×626 pixels to 1500×500 pixels. The profile photo is located just below the cover photo on the left side and below it you see one’s bio, recommendations and trending topics. Twitter also looks like it is letting go of the vertical structure and there is more focus on photos and Twitter cards.
It is not uncommon to see Twitter experimenting with new designs and rolling it out to select users for feedback before releasing it on a larger scale. What would be interesting though is if and when Twitter introduces this design, considering it only recently released an Android and iOS inspired design to users.
What do you think about the new design? Let us know in the comments section below.
