HP has launched the Slate6 VoiceTab, which is a 6" phablet priced at Rs 22,990. What really stands out about the phablet is its unique patterned back cover and the overall thinness.
The phablet comes with 6" 720p IPS display and is powered by a Marvell PXA1088 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. Other features include a 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, front facing stereo speakers, 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded to up to 64GB using a microSD card and a 3,000mAh battery.
Connectivity options include 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It also features dual front-facing speakers above and below the display. It also has dual-SIM support with both a normal (mini) SIM card slot and a micro-SIM card slot. Only the micro-SIM card slot supports 3G connectivity.
Priced at Rs 22,990, the Slate6 VoiceTab will be compared with the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Intex Aqua Octa. The Ascend Mate is slightly more expensive at Rs 24,999 and for the extra buck you get a slightly bigger display (6.1"), double the RAM (2GB), a higher resolution rear camera (8MP) and a bigger battery (4,050mAh) too. On the flipside, you get a lower resolution 1MP front camera and half the internal storage memory (8GB).
The Aqua Octa, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 19,695. Compared to Slate6, the Aqua Octa has more power as it is the first Indian smartphone to be powered by MediaTek’s true octa-core SoC, a bigger 2GB RAM, bigger cameras (13MP/5MP), and has dual-SIM card slots too. The only specification where it falls short is the battery, as it only has a 2,300mAh battery.
