After months of leaks and speculation, the Google Now Launcher (previously known as the Google Experience Launcher) has been released into Google Play Store. This is essentially an updated app that will enable the home screen functionality in the Google search app of most Android devices. However, this isn't a universal release. The official Google Now Launcher can only be installed on the Nexus and Google Play Edition devices running Android KitKat.
A future version might open it up for all Android devices, but we'll have to wait till Google do this change. There is a compatibility list below for your reference. Also note the Nexus 10 still doesn't get transparent bars.
There don't appear to be any huge new features. This is still the same layout with the Google Now panel and customizable home screen panels.
